Tommaso Gallarati Scotti
Milan 1878-Bellagio 1966. A writer and diplomat, he graduated in Literature from the University of Genoa. Intense relationship, first educational, then of friendship, with Achille Ratti (Pius XI). Founded Il Rinnovamento magazine, working with the National Democratic League for the political independence of Catholics. Took part in the First World War, and was an opponent of Fascism. Ambassador to Madrid and London. Wrote a biography of Alessandro Manzoni.
