Ottavio Missoni

Dubrovnik 1921-Sumirago 2013. Fashion designer and national and Olympic athlete. Seven national championship titles in athletics, in the 4×400 relay at the London Olympics in ’48. Prisoner of the British after the battle of El Alamein during the war in Africa (4 years in Egypt). In 1953, he and his wife Rosita founded Missoni, the creative fashion house that enjoyed international success right from the ’60s. In 1970 a Missoni boutique opened in Bloomingdale’s in New York. The first boutique in Milan came in 1976. Gold medal for civil valour from Milan in 1979.
