Le Roncole (Parma) 1813–Milan 1901. Italy’s most famous composer. He settled in Milan in 1832 and performed his first opera at La Scala in 1839. Nabucco (1842) earned him international fame. Rigoletto, Il Trovatore and La Traviata together form his “popular trilogy”. A supporter of the Risorgimento and MP in the first Parliament after Unification.
