Giovanni Virginio Schiaparelli

Savigliano 1835-Milan 1910. An astronomer and science historian, known for his studies of Mars, Lincei academician and senator of the Kingdom of Italy, he made many scientific discoveries (asteroids, craters and canals on the Moon and Mars named after him). Main publications: La vita sul pianeta Marte and Le stelle cadenti.
