Giorgio Rumi

Milan 1938-Milan 2006. A Catholic-liberal historian, tenured professor of Contemporary History in the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Milan, with important studies on Fascist foreign policy, on Catholics in fascism and democracy, liberals and moderates after Unification, Catholics and modernisation, Milan and Lombardy in international relations (“with a clear conviction of Italian identity as a historical fact and ethical-political choice”, as Giuseppe Galasso recalled). A contributor to leading newspapers (Corriere della Sera, Sole-24 ore, Avvenire), a director of RAI from 2003 to 2005.
