Giorgio Gaber (Gaberscik)
Milan 1939- Camaiore 2003. Il Signor G. Singer-songwriter, actor and theatre and film director, guitarist and one Italy’s first performers of rock ‘n’ roll. Began his career with Ghigo Agosti. Debut at the 1954 jazz festival. Joined the Rock Boys, Celentano’s band with Jannacci on the piano. On TV in ’57 with Voci e volti della fortuna. Met Tenco in Milan and formed the Rocky Mountains Old Times Stompers, performing at the Santa Tecla (thus paying for his studies at Bocconi). Began his career as a soloist, recording with Ricordi. First great success Non arrossire (1960), followed by countless titles. Took part at Sanremo four times. Left TV and worked on song-theatre (lyrics with Sandro Luporini), recordings on 15 double CDs.
