Gallarate (Varese) 1855-Biumo Superiore (Varese) 1919. The son of a wealthy textile manufacturer. Official schooling in Genoa then around Europe to study textile, agricultural and healthcare companies. A liberal politician in the municipal council of Milan from 1881, and member of associations, consortia and companies. Used part of his inheritance to build wings for the Ospedale Maggiore in Milan. Senator of the Kingdom from 1900, on the board of directors of the Società Anonima Meccanica Lombarda (aircraft for the Italian-Turkish War). Mayor of Milan from 1905 to 1909. Works include the construction of the urban centre of Martirano Lombardo for earthquake victims of Martirano (1905).
