Carlo Forlanini

Milan 1847-Nervi 1918. An illustrious Milanese doctor, twice nominated for the Nobel Prize, head physician at the Fatebenefratelli hospital. In Pavia in 1882, he invented the artificial pneumothorax which cured many tuberculosis patients and gave hope to phthisiologists. His work inspired the development of anti-tuberculosis collapse therapy.
