Antonio Ghiringhelli

Brunello (Varese) 1906-Courmayeur 1979. Graduated with honours in Economics from the University of Genoa. After becoming a successful entrepreneur in footwear, in 1948 he became superintendent of La Scala at the age of 42 and kept the post until 1972. Under his direction, La Scala, which had reopened in May ’46, became a driving force behind the rebirth of Milano. Vieri Poggiali wrote his biography, Antonio Ghiringhelli, una vita per la Scala.
