Gessate 1890- Milan 1957. Italian entrepreneur, founder of the Motta food company. From the province of Milan, Motta was a pastry cook who, in the early 1910s, moved to Milan to start his own career. In 1919 he opened his first bakery in the Via Chiusa, producing the typical Milanese panettone. In 1948 he began industrial production of ice cream (Coppa del Nonno and Mottarello). In 1934 he founded the Premio della Notte di Natale.
