Alda Merini

Milan 1931-Milan 2009. A poet and writer who created a complex poetic opus (acknowledged by the Librex-Gugghenheim Eugenio Montale prize) that reflected an equally complex life, spent almost entirely in Milan. A friend of great personalities in Italian literature, from Giorgio Manganelli to Giacinto Spagnoletti and Salvatore Quasimodo. Maria Corti considers her masterpiece to be The Holy Land (1993).
